Description:
The idol of Lord Mahadev Shiva is deftly sculpted in brass and depicts the lord sitting on tiger’s skin in boon giving pose. The idol is adorned with all the representative signs of Lord Shiva, including many “Rudraksha” rosaries on his body, the holy river Ganges tumbling out of the tuft on the top of his hair; a crescent moon shining on the tuft; a hooded serpent coiled around the neck, and a trident, with a small leather drum (or damroo) bound around it, standing upright at his left hand side. The most striking feature of Lord Shiva’s portrayal, however, remains the third eye on his forehead, which is symbolic of the lord’s role as a destroyer in the Hindu trinity.
