Description
The artist has chiseled Patañjali, the compiler of the Yoga Sutra, a major work containing aphorisms on the practical and philosophical wisdom regarding practice of Raja Yoga, out of metal brass with masterly elegance. Patañjali is the reputed author of the Yoga Sutra, as well as commentary on Panini's Sanskrit grammar (Astyadhyayi). There are also many ayurvedic texts attributed to him. Desirous of teaching yoga to the world, he is said to have fallen (pat) from heaven into the open palms (anjali) of a woman, hence the name Patanjali. The Yoga Sutra is a treatise on Raja Yoga, built on the Samkhya School and the Hindu scripture of the Bhagavad Gita. Yoga is also found in the Puranas, Vedas and Upanishads. Still, this work is certainly a major work among the great Hindu scriptures and certainly is the basis of Raja Yoga. Patañjali's Yoga is one of the six schools of Hindu Philosophy. They give us the earliest reference to the popular term Ashtanga Yoga that translates literally as the eight limbs of yoga. They are yama, niyama, asana, pranayama, pratyahara, dharana, dhyana and samadhi.

Description
In this beautiful brass figure Nandi is shown carrying Shivalinga protected by hooded-serpent. The figure of Nandi, the vehicle of Lord Shiva is given a resplendent touch. Nandi is the bull that served as the mount of Lord Shiva and as the gatekeeper of Shiva and Parvati. Nandi is the chief guru of eighteen masters (18 Siddhar) including Patanjali and Thirumular. Temples devoted to Lord Shiva display stone images of a seated Nandi, generally facing the main shrine. Therefore Nandi is the protector of the temple. There are also a number of temples dedicated exclusively to Nandi. Lord Shiva is one of the most powerful deities and is responsible for the destruction of the universe. But this destruction became necessary as it is the prelude to a new beginning. He is the Supreme Consciousness that illuminates the three states of waking, dreaming and deep sleep. Offering the threefold bilva leaves to the Shivalinga heralds the return to a level of consciousness beyond the three states, which is the fourth state, turiya. The dawning of that state is consonant with the awakening of the individual.

Description
The beautiful brass figure of Dhanvantari, the father of Ayurveda, is given a refine and minute treatment with some nice carvings on it. The tall and standing figure of the Lord reveals a deep sense of accomplishment and gracefulness. Dhanvantari first appeared during the great churning of the cosmic milk ocean to deliver amrta (nectar) for the nourishment of the demigods. Lord Dhanvantari was "dressed in yellow garments and wore brightly polished earrings made of pearl. The tips of His hair were anointed with oil and His chest was very broad. His body had all good features, and He was stout and strong as a lion. In His hand, He carried a jug of nectar." The demons stole the jug of nectar and Lord Vishnu appeared as Mohini, a beautiful woman, who fascinated the demons and recovered the nectar from them. Dhanvantari’s second Appearance ccurred at the beginning of the reign of the current Manu in the second Dvapara-yuga . Lord Vishnu foretold at the time of the churning that Dhanvantari would appear again in the human society and be worshipped by human beings. He would also teach them the science of Ayurveda. Dhanvantari at that time was residing in the heavens and Lord Indra seeing the misery of human beings afflicted by disease on earth, requested the Lord to teach Ayurveda to the human race.

Description
The Jain God Mahaveera’s figure has been executed in a refine manner. Mahavira was the 24th Tirthankaras (Gurus in Jainism) and was the founder of the religion. An apostle of non-violence and truthfulness, Lord Mahavira practiced nonviolence in a strict manner. The image shows the Lord in a meditative posture and his disciples as well as the elephants have been carved out nicely. The statue contains some nice carvings and designs on it.
This bell is creatively carved out with a Nandi the Vahana of Lord Shiva. The symbol of “Om” is also depicted on it. The bell is called Ghanta in Indian languages. A well designed ghanta or bell produces long strains of the sound “Om”. The body of a ghanta represents time, while the tongue represents Goddess Saraswati.
A Portrait of a typical India Woman bearing bindi (holy dot ) also known as kumkum or tilak is an auspicious makeup worn by young Hindu girls and women on their forehead. The term is derived from bindu, the Sanskrit word for a dot or a point. It is usually a red dot made with vermilion (finely powdered bright red mercuric sulphide). Considered a blessed symbol of Uma or Parvati, a bindi signifies female energy (shakti) and is believed to protect women and the husbands.
