Description
The brass figure shows Lord Buddha is a vitarka with a carved robe. The Buddha statues are often depicted with their hands performing a number of different poses and ritual postures. There are altogether ten such Mudras. Vitarka mudra is one of the much commonly found mudra or poses. Vitarka Mudra is the mudra or a gesture representing the discussion and transmission of the teachings by the Buddha. It induces the energy of the teachings and discussions of the spiritual principles which may also involve the arguments of the ideas. The Vitarka Mudra is usually performed by joining the tips of the thumb and the index fingers together while keeping the other fingers straight. This is similar to Abhaya as well as Varada mudra but with the thumbs touching the index fingers. The circle formed by the thumb and the index finger symbolizes the constant flow of energy and information. Vitarka mudra is a common gesture among the Buddha statues from Dvāravatī ages in Thailand. This mudra is also sometimes, substituted for Dharmachakra Mudra. Also called "The Gesture of Debate" or "discussion" mudra, Vitarka mudra can be seen in both the sitting and standing Buddha statues. Vitarka Mudra increases wisdom. It is a gesture of teaching or a mudra of discussion. It helps with the flow of knowledge without fear. One can practise for 30 to 45 minutes, either at once or in 10- to 15-minute intervals throughout the day and there are no side effects from this mudra. Anyone can use it and enjoy its benefits.

Description
The beautiful brass figure of the Green Tara is nicely carved out with some exquisite and splendid carvings on it. This Buddhist saviour-goddess has numerous manifestations and is widely popular in Nepal, Tibet, and Mongolia. Tara is the feminine counterpart of the Bodhisattva (or the futue Buddha) Avalokitesvara. According to popular belief, Tara came into existence from a tear of Avalokitesvara, which fell to the ground and formed a lake. Out of its waters rose up a lotus, which, on opening, revealed the goddess. Like Avalokitesvara, she is a compassionate, succoring deity who helps men "cross to the other shore." She is the protectress of navigation and earthly travel, as well as of spiritual travel along the path to Enlightenment. The Green Tara (Sanskrit: Syamatara) was believed to be incarnated as the Nepali princess. She is considered by some to be the original Tara and is the female consort or partner of Avalokitesvara. In this beautiful brass figure, she is shown seated on a lotus throne with right leg hanging down, wearing the ornaments of a bodhisattva.
