Third Day of Navratri : Worshiped on Goddess Chandra Ghanta

ॐ देवी चन्द्रघण्टायै नमः॥
Om Devi Chandraghantayai Namah॥

Chandra Ghanta’ is Divine Mother’s third face worshipped on the third day of Navaratras. Exemplifying tranquility, peace and material well-being, She is idolized for bestowing courage and ridding life from evil influences. She gets Her name because a ‘Chandra’ (half moon) adorns Her forehead akin a ‘Ghanta’ (bell).

Her demeanor is extremely peaceful. Astride a tiger, She evokes a spontaneous sense of adoration and awe among devotees with three eyes on her golden face and ten hands holding incongruous assortment, including glinting weapons, a lotus flower and a Kamandalu.

She reigns over the Manipur Chakra [or Nabhi (navel) Chakra] symbolized by a lotus with 10 petals.
